Get Inspired By This Dream-Worthy Bathroom Remodel In Great Falls, VA.

A bathroom remodel is the perfect project to get your feet wet with remodeling. In just one small space, you’ll address cabinetry, plumbing, lighting, tile, paint, and flooring. Once you’ve remodeled a bathroom, you’ll be ready to tackle your kitchen, basement, or even plan an addition. The clients whose project we profile in this piece knew precisely what they wanted for their Great Falls bathroom remodel. They contacted our team and hired us because we listened to their vision and integrated all their requests into the master bath of their dreams. Let’s break down the project.

The Original Space:

Our client’s home in Great Falls, VA, was originally a barn that was converted to a residential home in the 1980s. The master bath was a relic of that era with gold fixtures, pink cultured marble countertops, and 4” x 4” tile covering the space. There wasn’t a single element that honored the rustic character of the original barn. When we met with our clients, they shared their vision for the remodeled space. We looked at photos of bathrooms they liked and listened as they described certain features they had grown to love on their travels. They wanted to ensure their new space would work for them as they grew older without sacrificing style. Here are some images of the space before the remodel:

The Challenges.

There were several challenges associated with remodeling this space. We removed a load-bearing wall that required installing a new concrete footer and steel beam to support the space. Four jets and a rain can showerhead meant we needed to add two electric water heaters to provide enough hot water to work properly. The client also wanted to keep the large window in the shower to provide natural light, but they were concerned about safety and privacy. We found a tempered glass window with an electronic privacy film powered by a switch – shown below!

Modern Design Brought To Life.

We partnered with our clients to bring their vision to life through experienced design-build services from our talented team. Here are some key features we integrated into this stunning rustic and contemporary space:

Digital Shower System With Jets

This Kohler DTV shower system ticked all the boxes for our clients’ dream shower. A digital keypad makes it easy to operate, adjust water temperature, and flow. Four jets help target sore muscles, and a hand shower on a slide rail means they can reach the water while sitting on the shower seat.

Porcelain Tile That Looks Like Blue Stone

Our clients wanted bluestone tile but were concerned about maintenance in a wet environment. Our design team found a porcelain option that looks exactly like bluestone without any of the issues found with natural stone.

Adding Rustic Character

After removing the load-bearing wall, we covered the steel beam with reclaimed barn board material to echo the history of this renovated home. A barn door creates the perfect barrier to create privacy in the new bathroom.

Pops Of White Brighten This Space

We topped an industrial free-standing vanity with a bright white quartz countertop that is easy to maintain. Old-school lighting and big mirrors make this space as functional as it is beautiful.
